Meridiana Wine Estate

Winery Overview & History

Meridiana Wine Estate, founded in 1987, represents the modern face of Maltese winemaking. In collaboration with Marchesi Antinori of Italy, Meridiana pioneered premium viticulture on the island, combining Mediterranean character with international finesse.

Vineyard Location & Terroir

The estate lies in Ta’ Qali, near ancient Mdina, where limestone soils and steady sea breezes moderate Malta’s intense sunshine. The maritime climate contributes to concentrated yet balanced fruit expression.

Grape Varieties & Wine Style

Meridiana cultivates Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Chardonnay, creating wines that balance ripeness with minerality. The style is modern, polished, and Mediterranean at heart.

Signature Wines

  • Melqart – Cabernet Sauvignon–Merlot blend, structured and elegant.
  • Isis – Fresh and refined Chardonnay with floral lift.
  • Bel – Spicy Syrah, bold yet graceful.

Winemaking & Cellar Practices

Small-batch fermentation and French oak aging define Meridiana’s approach. The wines express balance, clarity, and the unique sunlit terroir of Malta.
