Winery Overview & History
Caves St Martin stands as one of Luxembourg’s most historic and visited wineries. Founded in 1919 in Remich, it is renowned for its underground cellars carved into the Moselle cliffs, where traditional-method sparkling wines mature in cool, natural silence. It remains a symbol of Luxembourg’s fine wine heritage and craftsmanship.
Vineyard Location & Terroir
The winery sources grapes from the Moselle Valley, where limestone, marl, and slate soils combine with a cool continental climate. The region’s terroir yields wines of crisp acidity, subtle minerality, and refined texture.
Grape Varieties & Wine Style
Dominant varieties include Rivaner, Auxerrois, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, and Chardonnay. The wines show delicacy and freshness, while the Crémant de Luxembourg stands out for its creamy mousse and elegant fruit profile.
Signature Wines
- Crémant de Luxembourg Brut Millésimé – Refined and mineral-driven, aged sur lie.
- Riesling Moselle Luxembourgeoise – Linear, crisp, and aromatic.
Winemaking & Cellar Practices
Using the traditional champagne method, wines undergo secondary fermentation in bottle and extended lees aging in the 1.5 km-long caves. Patience and precision create sparkling wines of poise and purity.
