Winery Overview & History
Grace Wine, founded in 1923 in Yamanashi, is Japan’s reference estate for fine, terroir-driven wines—especially dry, mineral Koshu. The Misawa family leads a century of craft rooted in precision and purity.
Vineyard Location & Terroir
Parcels in Akeno, Katsunuma, and Hishiyama benefit from high sunshine hours, volcanic/alluvial soils, and wide day-night temperature shifts. Elevated sites and well-drained gravelly loams shape delicacy and tension.
Grape Varieties & Wine Style
Signature focus on Koshu (dry, saline, citrus-peel finesse). Additional plantings of Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc produce cool-climate styles with fragrance and clarity.
Signature Wines
- Grace Koshu — Benchmark dry Koshu of precision and mineral poise.
- Misawa Vineyard Koshu — Single-vineyard expression with texture and length.
- Grace Chardonnay — Fresh orchard fruit with subtle oak and lift.
Winemaking & Philosophy
Hand-harvested small lots, gentle pressing, cool fermentations in stainless steel and neutral oak; extended lees contact for texture while preserving brightness.
