Egon Müller

Winery Overview & History

Egon Müller, located in Wiltingen on the Saar River, represents the purest expression of German Riesling. Established in 1797, the estate’s Scharzhofberg vineyard has become a global benchmark for finesse, longevity, and crystalline precision.

Vineyard Location & Terroir

The steep slopes of Scharzhofberg rise 200–300 meters above the Saar, composed of weathered slate. The cool microclimate extends ripening, yielding wines of low alcohol, high acidity, and ethereal balance.

Grape Varieties & Wine Style

Exclusively Riesling. Egon Müller crafts everything from Kabinett to Trockenbeerenauslese, wines that combine delicate sweetness with breathtaking acidity, clarity, and minerality.

Signature Wines

  • Scharzhofberger Riesling – The estate’s crown jewel, elegant and age-worthy.
  • Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) – Among the rarest and most expensive white wines in the world.

Winemaking & Cellar Practices

Fermentation occurs naturally with ambient yeasts in large old oak casks. Long lees aging develops texture and depth. Each vintage is bottled with utmost restraint, preserving purity and tension.
