Winery Overview & History
Teliani Valley is one of Georgia’s most innovative and internationally recognized wineries. Established in the 1990s on the site of a 19th-century cellar built for Russian royalty, it has become a leading force in bringing Georgian wines to the global stage.
Teliani Valley combines the country’s ancient qvevri winemaking traditions with modern enology, producing wines that are both authentic and contemporary.
Vineyard Location & Terroir
The winery is located in the Kakheti region, Georgia’s premier winegrowing area in the Alazani Valley. The climate is warm and sunny, moderated by cool breezes from the Caucasus Mountains. Soils of clay and limestone promote depth and minerality.
This natural balance yields wines with expressive aromatics, vibrant fruit, and elegant structure.
Grape Varieties & Wine Style
Teliani Valley works primarily with Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, and Mtsvane, alongside limited quantities of international varieties. The wines span a spectrum from fresh stainless-steel expressions to traditional qvevri-aged bottlings with amber hues and earthy complexity.
Signature Wines
- Saperavi “Tsinandali Collection” — Juicy and structured, with dark fruit and subtle oak spice.
- Qvevri Rkatsiteli — Traditional amber wine, rich and textural with dried apricot and honey tones.
- Teliani Valley Rosé — Fresh and lively, showcasing bright red fruit and floral aromas.
Winemaking & Cellar Practices
The estate uses both qvevri (clay amphorae) buried underground for fermentation and aging, and modern stainless-steel tanks for precision control. This dual approach allows the winery to celebrate Georgia’s heritage while ensuring consistency and finesse.
