Winery Overview & History
Château Lynch-Bages is Pauillac’s emblem of approachable power. Classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855, it has long outperformed its ranking. The Cazes family, owners since 1939, transformed it into a global favorite known for its generosity, consistency, and charm.
Vineyard Location & Terroir
The estate’s 100 hectares rest on deep gravel ridges overlooking the Gironde River. The soils’ natural drainage and mineral content yield Cabernet Sauvignon of impressive structure and aromatic purity.
Grape Varieties & Wine Style
Plantings are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), with Merlot (24%), Cabernet Franc (4%), and Petit Verdot (2%). Lynch-Bages offers blackcurrant, cedar, and espresso aromas in a bold, generous frame.
Signature Wines
- Château Lynch-Bages (Grand Vin) — Powerful, polished, and deeply satisfying Pauillac.
- Echo de Lynch-Bages — The second wine, round and supple with early appeal.
