Winery Overview & History
Château Gruaud Larose stands as the “Wine of Kings, King of Wines.” A Second Growth of Saint-Julien, it has long been prized for elegance and harmony. The estate traces its history to 1725, and today, under the Merlaut family, it continues to pursue balance between tradition and sustainability.
Vineyard Location & Terroir
The 82-hectare vineyard sits on deep gravel mixed with sand and clay. The terroir delivers wines with ripe fruit, floral aromatics, and polished tannins that age with grace.
Grape Varieties & Wine Style
The vineyard includes Cabernet Sauvignon (61%), Merlot (29%), Cabernet Franc (7%), and Petit Verdot (3%). The wines show ripe cassis, violets, and spice, with a silken texture that bridges power and poise.
